Nintex End of Life 2026: Migrate in 2–5 Weeks
Nintex Workflow reached end of life in April 2026. Unsupported workflows are now a risk. Migrate to skybow in 2-5 weeks. Schedule your free call.

Still running processes on Nintex Workflow for Office 365?
Then you have probably noticed already: the workflows have stopped.
Nintex ended support for Nintex Workflow for Office 365 on 31 December 2025. On 2 April 2026, Microsoft switched off the SharePoint add-in model the product runs on. Since then, add-in workflows no longer run and add-in forms no longer open. Microsoft rolled the change out tenant by tenant, so some organisations noticed it weeks later than others.
This guide explains what the Nintex end of life means for your processes, which options you have now and how to get your workflows running again in 2 days to 5 weeks.

Nintex end of life: what has changed since April 2026
If you used Nintex Workflow for Office 365 in SharePoint Online, three things are true today:
- Add-in workflows no longer run. Approvals, notifications and status changes that depended on them have stopped, unless someone has replaced them in the meantime.
- Add-in forms no longer open. Forms in the add-in format are gone. Nintex continues to support forms in the responsive format built on the SharePoint Framework (SPFx).
- There is no support and no extension. Microsoft did not offer a grace period for the add-in model, and Nintex no longer maintains the product.
Workflows that were upgraded with Nintex's own migration tool before the cut-off keep running. If that step was skipped, the processes are either down or running as manual workarounds by email and Excel.
What this means for your processes
Every week without a replacement costs time: requests are tracked in inboxes again, approvals are chased by phone, and nobody can say where a case stands. For processes with compliance requirements, such as purchase approvals or quality checks, the missing audit trail is the bigger problem.
Your options after the Nintex end of life
You have three realistic paths. Which one fits depends on how many workflows you run, how complex they are and what you are prepared to pay.
1. Nintex Automation Cloud
Nintex's successor runs as a separate cloud platform outside SharePoint. It offers more features than the add-in, but the price is significantly higher.
Customers we talk to report quotes that are 4 to 5 times higher than their previous Nintex Workflow for Office 365 licence. For many small and medium-sized organisations, that increase is hard to justify.
2. Power Automate
Power Automate is Microsoft's own workflow tool and the replacement Microsoft recommends for classic SharePoint workflows. Simple flows run with the rights included in Microsoft 365. As soon as you need premium connectors, Power Automate Premium costs 15 US dollars per user per month, and forms have to be rebuilt separately in Power Apps. Our overview of 9 Power Platform costs nobody warns you about shows where the budget usually grows.
3. skybow Studio
skybow Studio builds forms, workflows and business logic directly on your SharePoint lists, in SharePoint Online as well as on SharePoint Server 2019 and Subscription Edition. Your data stays in your own SharePoint environment, and there is no separate platform or database to run.
Moving from Nintex is not a one-click conversion. Each workflow is rebuilt, which is also the chance to drop steps nobody needs any more. Because the form becomes the centre of the process in skybow, the rebuild is usually faster than teams expect: depending on complexity, a migration takes between 2 days and 5 weeks. If you want to see the steps first, our guide on how to rebuild Nintex workflows in skybow walks you through them.
The licence is easy to budget: one skybow licence per user covers forms, workflows and automation actions, including HTTP and API calls. There is no billing per workflow, per run or per connector. If you need the details side by side, the skybow vs Nintex comparison lists features, pricing and migration effort.
Part of your environment still runs on SharePoint Server? skybow works there too, and our page on SharePoint SE shows how you digitise processes while keeping everything on-premises.

Your 5-step plan to replace Nintex now
Whether your workflows have already stopped or you are getting by with workarounds, this plan gets you back to stable processes.
Step 1: Take stock of what you had
List every workflow and form that ran on Nintex Workflow for Office 365. Your Nintex licence, internal documentation and the SharePoint sites with Nintex lists are good starting points. Ask your IT team and the departments which processes they have been missing since April.
Step 2: Identify the critical workflows
Focus on the workflows that were active in the 6 to 12 months before the shutdown. Workflows nobody used in that period probably do not need to be rebuilt at all.
Step 3: Assess the impact
Sort the remaining workflows by importance: which ones are business-critical, which ones carry compliance requirements, which ones can wait? The more damage a missing workflow causes, the higher it goes on your list.
Step 4: Choose the platform and plan
Share the list with your stakeholders and compare the options above on features, licence cost over 3 years and rebuild effort. Then write a migration plan with timelines, owners and a test phase.
Step 5: Rebuild, test and switch
Start with the most critical workflows, let a few users test them with real cases and train the team. Then move the remaining workflows in small batches.
Get your processes running again
The shutdown has already happened, so the question is no longer whether to replace Nintex, but how fast. A clear inventory, a short list of critical workflows and a platform that fits your SharePoint environment get you there in weeks, not months.
